“This Is So Good for Kids”

Not all tristate area families live near grocery stores, and with prices continuing to remain high, fresh produce isn’t always an affordable option.

Through your generosity, Freestore Foodbank can support programs like the Healthy Harvest Mobile Market (HHMM), a mobile grocery store that brings fresh, healthy, affordable food into Greater Cincinnati communities. HHMM also provides a SNAP match that allows customers on the SNAP program to get double the produce for the same price!

Olivia had a chance to shop at the Healthy Harvest Mobile Market behind South Avondale Elementary School, where her younger siblings go to school. She learned about the mobile market through the school and was able to shop when she came to pick the children up at the end of their day.

“This is so good for kids. They need fruits and vegetables,” Olivia says.

She was shopping with her cousin Bailey, looking for fresh fruit to take home with them. Olivia says apples are always a favorite, but the kids in her family love all kinds of fruits. Today, Bailey was happily enjoying a banana for her after-school snack.

Neighbors like Olivia are so grateful to visit the Healthy Harvest Mobile Market. Being able to buy affordable, fresh foods nearby makes it easier to provide more nutritious meals for their families.
