It Has a Great Impact

Lori spends much of her week going into homes and visiting families in the rural community of Vevay, Indiana.

As family preservation facilitator for Vevay’s INcompass Healthcare, formerly known as Community Mental Health Center, she makes sure children’s needs are met and connects families to available resources. Now the food pantry is part of INcompass Healthcare’s umbrella of services, and Lori can provide another layer of support — food!

“I take food during my visits to make sure they all have food in their fridge,” she says.

Neighbors can attend weekly drive-thru distributions at the food pantry, but not everyone has transportation, including many of the families Lori visits. The pantry supplies her with emergency food boxes to give families she encounters during the day who might not have anything to eat at home. She often sees people who are unhoused as well, so she is always sure to bring extra food for them.

“It’s been great to have this resource here,” Lori says. “It’s nice to have the fresh foods they don’t always get.”

Thanks to support from donors like you, families have the food they need — especially this coming summer while school is out, and kids don’t have access to free breakfast and lunch.

“It has a great impact on [our community],” Lori says. “With the price of everything, it’s hard to feed a family.”

Your gifts help expand our reach into rural areas and communities that are often underserved. Thank you for giving so generously!
