Most weeks you can find Yadiah visiting the Healthy Harvest Mobile Market — a grocery store on wheels that serves neighborhoods with limited access to healthy food.
Through the Mobile Market, shoppers can buy affordable, fresh produce and selected pantry staples at no cost. The market works to make it easier for neighbors like Yadiah to access fresh, healthy food.
Yadiah says the Mobile Market is incredibly helpful for the community, as it’s often hard to find healthy produce in the area that’s affordable. “I appreciate it, and it’s so much help. So many families can’t afford this kind of food otherwise,” she says. “Social services only go so far, so we sincerely appreciate the food bank.”
Yadiah works as an LPN and licensed midwife. During the COVID-19 outbreak, she stopped doing in-home care. It’s taken years to recover from the financial hardship, and she still struggles to get by some months.
That’s why she’s so grateful for the extra help she gets with her groceries, so it’s one less thing to worry about.
