Volunteer Position
Location: 112 E Liberty Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202
Duration: 12 months — June 28, 2013-June 27, 2014
Time Commitment: 40 hours/week
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm
Essential Functions: The VISTA member serving as the Volunteer Recruitment and Training Coordinator will serve an important role in a refocusing of effort toward our volunteer program. Specifically, the member will build upon the work of his/her predecessor in this position by initiating, developing, and maintaining relationships with key community partners as part of a targeted recruitment effort to fill our volunteer needs and expand our outreach to potential volunteers. Further, the member will work with current volunteers and management to identify, create, and facilitate volunteer training so that we are providing professional development and core skills training in support of volunteers’ work toward our mission. In support of the team effort to strengthen the volunteer program and increase retention, the member will work with staff to develop evaluation tools to monitor volunteer performance and satisfaction as well as help to develop recognition methods that are cost-effective and creative.
Minimum Qualifications: Excellent interpersonal skills; public speaking; writing/editing; computer proficiency; ability to recruit/persuade others
Requirements: Some college required; minimum age of 18; proof of AmeriCorps eligibility (citizenship documents); background check; AmeriCorps application
Benefits: $435.40 bi-weekly living stipend; choice of end-of-term education award ($5,550) or cash stipend ($1,500) upon successful completion of term; personal time and sick time
