Happy New Year from the Volunteer Engagement Team!

Our team wishes you a very prosperous, healthy new year and we look forward to seeing you in 2017!

Volunteers are one of our greatest resources. You make our work in the community possible. In 2016, more than 11,000 volunteers shared their time, talent and treasures. We look forward to working with you again in 2017. Together, We Can Solve Hunger!

We wrapped up 2016 with a big red bow with the following events:

Thank You For Giving The Gift Of Hope For The HolidaysHoliday Food Distributions
Our annual Christmas Food Distribution made a huge impact, thanks to the support of our staff and volunteers. We provided food for a Christmas meal to help more than 12,000 people over the course of two days. More than 650 volunteers donated 2,100 hours – a true gift this holiday season. The Holiday Food Distributions combined, with the support of 1,800 volunteers, we were able to help more than 32,000 people with a holiday meal.

Adopt-a-FamilyAdopt-a-Family
100 families received holiday gifts this year through our Adopt-a-Family program. Thanks to the volunteers and donors who helped to make this possible. Thank you to volunteer Susan Ede and her team for bringing joy to these families over the holidays.

Check Out Power Pack KrogerCheck-Out Power Pack at local Kroger Stores
We will begin sometime in March or April. This is an individual volunteer opportunity that is great for volunteers who work or go to school full time, but wish to volunteer with us. Volunteers will adopt and visit one or more of the 60 participating Kroger stores once or twice weekly to help with maintenance of the placards and tear coupons at the cash registers and U-scans. Volunteers will replace or replenish supplies as needed. At the end of the campaign, volunteers will take down the placards and tear coupons and discard. Volunteers will be given one hour each week during the campaign run. Stay tuned for sign-up details online and in the February e-Newsletter.

There are three Check-Out campaigns throughout the year: Check-Out Power Pack, Check-Out Duck and Check-Out Hunger. These fundraisers are an easy way for donors to help feed our hungry neighbors.
