Fun In The Sun: Upcoming Events & Opportunities

Hogs vs. HungerSaturday, June 27 – 5th Annual Hogs vs. Hunger (Florence, KY). We’re revving up our engines for our Fifth Annual Hogs vs. Hunger motorcycle ride. It will begin at the Thoroughbred Harley-Davidson store in Florence, KY, cover a 100 mile stretch through Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio and end at Belterra Park in Anderson Township. Hogs vs. Hunger is an excellent fundraising opportunity for those who love to ride the open roads while helping our hungry neighbors. Volunteers are needed to assist with pre-registration, registration, raffle ticket sales, t-shirt sales and a host of other tasks. Contact Tawanda Rollins at or 513-482-7557 for more information.

June 1st through the month of AugustInnovative Summer Meal Program (Mayerson Distribution Center). Trying to find a group activity during the summer? Sign up to help us assemble food boxes at our Mayerson Distribution Center located at 1250 Tennessee Ave. These food boxes will ensure that children will have meals during the summer months until school resumes. To find out more or to schedule to a date, contact our volunteer hotline at 513-482-7550 or

July 18th through September 6th – Check-Out Duck (Select Kroger stores in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana). We are gearing up for “Duck Season” at the Freestore Foodbank in preparation of the 21st Annual Rubber Duck Regatta! Volunteers will install, maintain and uninstall duck placards with tear coupons at the checkout counters at the stores. This campaign is a convenient way for people to buy ducks as they pay for their groceries. Last year, this campaign yielded over $200,000 in duck sales with the help of our partners at Kroger and our esteemed volunteers who maintained their stores throughout the campaign. To learn more or to adopt a Kroger store now, contact Tawanda Rollins at or 513-482-7557.
