Your support helped feed me when my cupboards were empty

Ricky didn’t think he had anything to worry about. He had worked at the same company for 20 years, making a good salary that came with great benefits.

Then, he was unexpectedly let go. His union is working to get his job back, and he tried to stretch out the small amount of money he had in savings. That lasted a few weeks—and then Ricky was staring at empty cupboards in his home.

“Right now, there is no food in my house. Nothing at all,” Ricky says. “You never think it will happen to you, but here I am at the food pantry.”

He discovered Be Concerned Food Pantry in Covington, Kentucky. Ricky says the pantry helps him fill a gap he never expected to have. It was hard for him to ask for help at first, but now he is incredibly appreciative of the food that is available to him.

So many people in our community are like Ricky— they simply need help while they get back on their feet. Your generous support today will provide nutritious food for children, families and seniors in our community struggling with hunger.

“I’ve always been self-sufficient and then all of a sudden one day without notice you hit rock bottom,” Ricky says. “I’m grateful because I have absolutely nothing to eat and they were willing to help me.”

Ricky is so thankful to the donors at the Foodbank who make it possible for him to receive the nutritious food he needs. Having people that care for him is helping him get through an incredibly difficult time in his life.
