Thanks to LaRosa’s Pizzeria for its continued support of our efforts. On Tuesday, February 21, LaRosa’s presented us with a check for $48,000, the equivalent of 144,000 meals for our hungry neighbors. The money was raised through its annual holiday campaign. For every Buddy Card purchased during the holiday season, the pizzeria donated $5 to the Freestore Foodbank.

“For families struggling to make it day-by-day, social service agencies like the Freestore Foodbank are beacons of hope,” said LaRosa’s CEO Michael T. LaRosa. “Once immediate needs are met, volunteers and community advocates work with our struggling neighbors to help them achieve independence and self-sustenance. Through job-training programs like Cincinnati Cooks, to money management classes, or transportation, they work tirelessly to not only meet immediate needs, but to foster hope and independence for a brighter future. LaRosa’s is proud to again support the Freestore Foodbank to fight hunger in our community and help teach independence and self- sustenance to our struggling neighbors.”

On Wednesday, February 8 Kerry Automotive Dealers presented us with a check for $50,000 to help support our Power Pack program. The money was raised through a holiday campaign in which Kerry Automotive Dealers donated 10 Power Packs for every vehicle purchased.

“Two years ago we decided to focus on supporting one program that would make a significant impact,” said Kerry Automotive owner Nancy DeCastro. “Childhood hunger is a major issue in our community so we chose Freestore Foodbank’s Power Pack program to support.”

These generous efforts resulted in the donation that will help to provide 10,000 Power Packs to hungry kids in our community. In addition, employees from Kerry Automotive have also given their time to volunteer at the Distribution Center assembling Power Packs.

“We have over 400 employees at five sites, so they don’t have a lot of opportunity to get to know each other,” said DeCastro. “Volunteering has been a win-win for us. It is a wonderful opportunity for employees to interact and feel part of our larger team. Plus we get to make Power Packs and help feed children.”

Because of their significant volunteer efforts with Freestore Foodbank, Kerry Automotive was recognized by the Cincinnati Association of Volunteer Administrators with the 2016 Outstanding Corporate Partner of the Year award.

We truly appreciate the generosity and support of our community partners right here in our hometown.
