Throughout this time, we like to honor the women who are making the tristate a better place. Yvonne is one of these women. Through your support, Yvonne is working to build a stronger future for herself — and everyone around her.
Yvonne is a graduate of Cincinnati COOKS!, Freestore Foodbank’s free culinary training program. After completing the first course and moving on to the advanced course, she became a chef instructor, running our kitchen operations here. She even recently earned a new certification as a Certified Fundamental Chef!
She enjoys teaching and helping students work through the program to learn new skills that can change their lives for the better. When asked about her favorite part of her job, she immediately replies, “The students. To come in here and to work with students.” Because of Yvonne’s work as a teacher, even more neighbors can discover their passions and open up new possibilities in their futures. “Some of them you see just really change. By the time they get to the end, they are really into it,” she says.
“I love my job. I always meet different people from all walks of life. I don’t think y’all can drag me away. … The students make my day.” — Yvonne
Yvonne also enjoys cooking nutritious meals that are flash frozen and sent to our markets. She has seen firsthand how much the people in her community love and appreciate the healthy meals they’re able to access at our Bea Taylor and Liberty Street Markets.
Women like Yvonne, who make their communities a better place, really are priceless! It’s all possible because of the gifts you give to Freestore Foodbank. Plus, every $1 you give provides up to $5.47* worth of groceries.
This is why your gift matters so much. Your gift changes lives for neighbors throughout the tristate area. Please give today and help us celebrate women like Yvonne who make their communities stronger.
