The Freestore Foodbank and Cincinnati State’s Workforce Development Center are proud to announce the launch of the Urban Accelerated Skills Training Academy, aimed at training students for work as kitchen supervisors and other management positions. The program is free and is offered to Cincinnati Cooks graduates.

The first class, which launched in June 2012, is made up of 20 students. They are slated to graduate in October 2012 and can receive half of the credits needed for an associate’s degree. Initial goals are for 60% of students to find and maintain a job 60 days after graduating from the Academy and for 25% of graduates to be promoted to a managerial role at businesses where they already work.

The Urban Accelerated Skills Training Academy is supported by a grant from the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services.
