Summer Feeding Program Site Assistant Volunteer Position

Location: Varies – Deer Park, Elmwood Place, Forest Park, Groesbeck, North Central, Reading, or Sharonville branches of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County or Skyline Community Center
Duration: June 11-August 10, 2012
Time Commitment: 1-5 hours/week
Schedule: M-F, 11:30am-2:00pm

Essential Functions: Serving food ‘cafeteria-style’ to kids. Supervising the meal service to maintain order and meet reporting requirements. Promotion of library activities such as a daily word search, reading period, etc. Help with set-up and take down of food service. Clean up of the food pans, seating area, etc.

Minimum Qualifications: Ability to do physical work, such as serving food and clean up. Communication skills adequate to interact with staff and external customers. Familiarity with child centered programs a plus. Requires reading, writing, lifting, talking, seeing, sitting, problem solving, and reasoning abilities.

Requirements: Minimum age 18 years old. Background check will be completed as part of the application process (cost covered by the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County). Training for this position is required upon selection.

Work Environment: Indoor – library setting. Constantly shifting environment – need to be able to move from set up to child supervision to clean up with ease. Libraries are wheelchair accessible.
