“It’s So Needed”

Patrick has worn many hats throughout his life. He served in the Marines for four years until he was medically retired. He also worked as a supervisor at a nearby casino. Today, he’s a proud grandparent.

Patrick is retired now, and he and his wife live on a fixed income. But they have a household of seven people to feed — including four grandchildren. He says it’s sometimes hard to get by with extra plates to fill.

Thankfully, Patrick can visit the food distribution at INcompass Healthcare (formerly known as Community Mental Health Center) in Vevay, Indiana, to get the food he needs to keep his grandchildren fueled for school and play.

“This helps out quite a bit,” he says of the food at the pantry. “We’re able to stretch what we get so that we mostly have what we need.”

Patrick says they sometimes have to choose between paying bills and buying food, especially when a surprise expense hits, like the unexpected $500 electric bill he recently received.

“After that, there was no money left for the other bills or food,” he says. “We’re just doing our best in these hard times.”

Patrick is thankful for the food he can get from the distribution, and hopes donors like you know how much it means to their community.

“It’s so helpful, and it’s so needed,” he says. “I appreciate it.”

Thanks to generous friends like you, neighbors like Patrick are giving their grandchildren a strong start. Thank you!
