Health and Hygiene

Food Stamps cannot be used to buy non-food items such as soap, shampoo, toothpaste or over-the-counter medications. This forces many individuals in low-income situations, those experiencing unemployment and individuals on fixed incomes to do without these essentials.

With the help of the Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnati and other donors, the Freestore Foodbank established the Health and Hygiene program to distribute healthcare products to those in need. Each year, the program distributes roughly $6.5 million in products to individuals in need.
