Freestore Foodbank President and CEO John Young launched our annual holiday campaign with a news conference at our Customer Connection Center Wednesday, November 10th.
The Freestore Foodbank hopes to distribute more than 700,000 pounds of food across 20 counties in the Tri-State over Thanksgiving and the December holidays. We have many things happening over the next few weeks to make that happen.
Our partners at Kroger are generously supplying us with 75,000 pounds of food at this great time of need. Kroger has also launched the annual Check Out Hunger program. Kroger customers are asked to donate $1, $3 or $5 at the register. The money is directly donated to the Freestore Foodbank. Kroger raised $120,000 for the Freestore Foodbank through Check Out Hunger in 2009.
LaRosa’s is among many other organizations helping the Freestore Foodbank this holiday season. LaRosa’s launches a six-week promotion that begins Monday, November 15th and runs through December 26th. LaRosa’s will donate a portion of the proceeds from every large 11.11 pizza back to the Freestore Foodbank.
