Location: 112 E Liberty Street, Cincinnati, OH 45202

Duration: September 11, 2013-September 10, 2014

Time Commitment: 34-40 hours/week; 1700 hours/yr

Schedule: M-F, 8am-4pm; occasional evening or weekends, as need arises

Essential Functions: Provide support to volunteers at the Food Room within the Customer Connection Center by orienting, training, and supervising volunteers. Maintain volunteer records pertaining to Food Room. Work in partnership with other HarvestCorps members and Volunteer Services to provide support to volunteers during the agency’s Holiday Operations, including orientation, training, and supervision of volunteers. Work in partnership with other HarvestCorps members, Volunteer Services, and Special Events to provide support to volunteers during special events, including set-up, break down, site preparation, and volunteer orientation and supervision. Schedule, document, verify, and report community service hours required to be served by volunteers who are beneficiaries of government programs by determining schedules and placement of volunteers (including screening and selection), tracking attendance and punctuality of volunteers within the Food Room, and utilizing agency’s volunteer disciplinary process as needed. Immediately report completed hours to appropriate partner agencies to ensure timely distribution of benefits to participants (Community Link, JFS, Mature Services, etc.). Maintain a positive relationship with a variety of agency partners through which Freestore Foodbank receives long-term volunteers.

Minimum Qualifications: Critical thinking, customer service skills, computer proficiency (including MS Office products), ability to work with and serve diverse clientele, presentation skills, ability to clearly articulate verbally and in writing, adherence to confidentiality, ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Requirements: Minimum age 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalency. AmeriCorps application, including 2 references. Background check (paid for by FSFB).  Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds. Must know or be willing to learn how to drive a forklift.

Compensation: Monthly living allowance of $1008.34 (pre-tax), end-of-term education award $5500, health care, if applicable. Please see for additional information.
