Save the Date: 18th Annual Empty Bowls
The 18th Annual Empty Bowls, hosted by the Clay Alliance, is scheduled for Sunday, November 6, 2016. The event features more than a thousand ceramic bowls handmade by potters from the Clay Alliance, a simulated soup kitchen line with food provided by the American Culinary Federation of Greater Cincinnati, live entertainment, and pottery demonstrations.
Tickets are available for one of two seatings, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., or 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. There is no official start time for either, simply show up any time during your chosen seating time.
Tickets are $25 for adults and $6 for children. Each adult ticket also includes a handmade bowl to take home. Tickets are available online or in person at Queen City Clay located at 3130 Wasson Road.
Making A Difference
Last year’s event raised more than $18,000 for the Freestore Foodbank’s Kids Cafe program. Nearly 100,000 kids living in the 20 counties served by the Freestore Foodbank aren’t always sure from where their next meal is coming.
“Before I started working on Empty Bowls, I was aware of some children going hungry,” says Peggy Mahoney, Chairwoman of Empty Bowls. “My eyes were really opened when I got involved in Empty Bowls. I had no idea how dire the situation was and how much was needed. There is no reason for hunger in this day and age. It is simply unacceptable to me and our group of potters at Clay Alliance.”
