How artistic can you get using canned food? Now is your chance to find out: Team entries are being accepted for the 14th annual Canstruction® competition to benefit the Freestore Foodbank.
Competing teams, led by architects, engineers, contactors and other members of the design community, have the opportunity to showcase their talents by designing and building giant structures (10′ x 10′ x 8’h) made entirely out of canned food. Teams have five hours to build their masterpiece, which will be on display to the public during gallery hours at the Weston Art Gallery in Downtown Cincinnati March 8-20, 2011. Visitors will vote for their favorite and awards will be presented for: Best Use of Labels, Best Meal, Structural Ingenuity, Juror’s Favorite, Most Cans and two Honorable Mentions. Winners will compete in a national competition through a digital photography submission.
Canned food is donated to the Freestore Foodbank at the end of the competition.
There is limited space for teams, so if you’re interested in taking part, you better act fast. Click here to download the Call for Entries. The $125 entry fee and registration form are due no later than November 19, 2010.
