Volunteers Assemble Power Packs on MLK Day

Dozens of volunteers packed Fountain Square on Martin Luther King Day. It was for the Power Pack-a-thon, the Freestore Foodbank’s response to President Obama’s call to make MLK Day a day of community service. Volunteers helped assemble 1,300 Power Packs.

Power Packs contain nutritious, easy-to-prepare food items. Children receive them every Friday, to ensure they have something to eat over the weekend, when they’re away from school.

Thanks to everyone who volunteered their time Monday, to help keep children from going hungry.
