The Freestore Foodbank was proud to have Mike and Marilyn Kremzar honored with a Voices of Giving Award on June 16. Mike and Marilyn began their involvement with the Freestore Foodbank back in 1984 when Mike joined the board. The couple quickly became dedicated advocates, volunteers, and supporters of the Freestore Foodbank. In 2001, Mike helped create Cincinnati COOKS!, a culinary job training program which also provides hot, nutritious after-school meals to children at risk of hunger. More than 1,200 adults have since graduated from the program and moved on to gainful employment. Mike and Marilyn continue to be involved with the Cincinnati COOKS! program and attend nearly every graduation.
Mike and Marilyn took their dedication to the next step when they generously named the Freestore Foodbank as a beneficiary of their IRA, thus enabling the Freestore Foodbank to continue helping individuals and families make the life changing transition from crisis to stability to self-reliance for many years to come.
Voices of Giving is an annual awards ceremony presented by the Greater Cincinnati Planned Giving Council that recognizes Greater Cincinnatians who have made a meaningful impact on an organization by leaving a bequest or legacy gift to that organization. The individuals who are recognized at this event are dedicated to the organizations in which they are involved and have shown a deep commitment and generosity by leaving a legacy gift.
The Freestore Foodbank is honored by the generosity shown by both Mike and Marilyn Kremzar. They represent the true spirit of giving, which truly enhances the quality of life in our community, both now and far into the future.
