Hunger affects people you see every day- the cashier at the grocery store, a child in your son or daughter’s class, the senior down the street who requires expensive medication.
Inter Parish Ministry is working to address the need in Clermont County and parts of eastern Hamilton County. It has a choice pantry located at 3509 Debolt Road in Newtown and also operates out of the First Presbyterian Church at 3rd & North Streets in Batavia. Inter Parish Ministry serves more than 14,000 people annually.
“Despite the improving economy, many people have yet to benefit from it,” said Lindsey Ein, Inter Parish Ministry Executive Director. “They remain underemployed or unemployed. 18% of our pantry visitors came for the first time having not previously needed assistance. Feeding their families continues to be a struggle as there are so many demands on their limited resources.”
You can help support Inter Parish Ministry’s efforts through the Freestore Foodbank’s 13th Annual Hunger Walk & 5K Run. The event, taking place at 9:00 a.m. on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30 in downtown Cincinnati, helps support the Freestore Foodbank’s network of 350 community partner agencies located in 20 counties throughout Southwest Ohio, Southeast Indiana and Northern Kentucky. Partner agencies form teams and raise money through pledges of support from their community. Registration is $20 or $25 with a t-shirt.
“Inter Parish Ministry has choice pantries in two locations with many shelves to fill. The Hunger Walk provides additional resources so that we can remain fully stocked.”
Inter Parish Ministry has a goal to raise $4,000 through Hunger Walk this year, the equivalent of 12,000 meals.
