Duration: 12 months — June 28, 2013-June 27, 2014
Time Commitment: 40 hours/week
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm
Essential Functions: You will be promoting the use of The Ohio Benefit Bank™, a free online service to help Ohioans access state and federal benefits like food assistance, medical and prescription assistance and utility assistance. This will be accomplished by building and maintaining partnerships with non-profit and faith based organizations your area.
You will: Recruit organizations to join the OBB network; Work on building the capacity of OBB sites in your region by providing proven tools in areas like volunteer recruitment, grant writing and web-site development or facilitating trainings from community experts; Get to know the programs of other non-profits in the area and promote them to clients; Foster relationships to reduce barriers to receiving public benefits; Meeting and event planning or raising donations to support the event; Presenting OBB to potential community organizations interested in joining our network
Minimum Qualifications: Outstanding computer proficiency; ability to train others with little to no computer skills; desire to be a “road-warrior” with 95% of time being spent travelling through 8 Ohio counties; public speaking; writing/editing; community organizing
Requirements: High school graduate; minimum age of 18; daily access to reliable transportation; proof of auto insurance; proof of AmeriCorps eligibility (citizenship documents); background check; AmeriCorps application
Benefits: $435.40 bi-weekly living stipend; choice of end-of-term education award ($5,550) or cash stipend ($1,500) upon successful completion of term; mileage reimbursement; personal time and sick time
