Holidays are a special time. For many children and families in need, it is one of the most difficult times of the year. This Thanksgiving, we provided food for a Thanksgiving meal to help nearly 9,000 households/more than 22,000 people in need in our hometown.
Hayley is one of friends needing help this holiday season. The 9-year-old from Northern Kentucky lives with her mom and her grandpa, who is currently battling cancer. The grade schooler has dreams of becoming a scientist when she grows up.
“I like turkey and sweet potatoes with marshmallows,” Hayley says with excitement as she and her mom stop by our Customer Connection Center to get help with food for a holiday meal.
Your donation to the Freestore Foodbank helps to make sure that kids like Haley have food on their plate this holiday season.
The generosity of our volunteers is also having a tremendous impact on our neighbors in need this holiday. More than 750 volunteers so generously donated their time to our efforts the week of Thanksgiving – from handing out holiday boxes to assembling bags of produce for our neighbors in need. Cincinnati Bengals players Vinny Rey, Margus Hunt, Brandon Tate and Tanner Hawkinson were among those who volunteered.
“Being able to help out the community means a whole lot,” says Cincinnati Bengals Linebacker Vinny Rey. “My heart is all about giving back!”
“It’s a great opportunity to help out the community,” says Cincinnati Bengals Offensive Tackle Tanner Hawkinson. “Some families aren’t as fortunate as others, so it’s great to get out here and help. It’s good to see smiles on their faces and to know that we are helping out a great cause.”
The Freestore Foodbank is now gearing up to give the gift of hope through our December Holiday Food Distribution, which will take place Friday, December 20; Saturday, December 21; and Monday, December 23.
Join us in giving the gift of hope. Help fill a plate this holiday season.
