End Childhood Hunger

Check-Out Power Pack At Your Neighborhood KrogerFeeding Kids in Need on Weekends
Each Friday during the school year, the Freestore Foodbank sends bags of nutritious food, known as Power Packs, home with students to ensure they have something to eat on weekends. Each Power Pack contains nearly a dozen food items, which are shelf-stable and kid-friendly.

One Power Pack student sent us a note reading, “thank you for the food and for helping us when we are in need.”

We think it’s important to provide children with food that is easy to prepare. A few examples of what you might find in a Power Pack include sun butter, whole grain cereals, fruit and vegetable juices, sunflower seeds, apple oatmeal bars, complete pasta meals and other healthy options.

“There is a family of five children who receive Power Packs,” said a site coordinator at South Avondale School. “Every Friday before they leave school, they come to the office and thank us for their Power Packs. I am always thrilled to see how appreciative they are to receive this service. Power Packs are truly making a difference in the lives of these children.”

Local Children Facing Food Insecurity
Over 94,000 children living in the 20 counties served by the Freestore Foodbank are at risk of hunger.

More than 4,000 children in more than 95 participating schools receive Power Packs from the Freestore Foodbank each week. The children are primarily between the ages of six and 12 and live in Hamilton, Clermont, Clinton, Pike and Scioto Counties in Ohio and Campbell, Kenton Boone and Grant Counties in Northern Kentucky.
