Addressing a Vital Need
The Freestore Foodbank provides more than 18.5 million meals to families and children in need each year to help address a vital need in our local communities. We sure couldn’t do it alone!
Working Together to Fight Hunger
Our member network of community partners spread across 20 counties in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana help us to distribute food to our neighbors in need. Together, we fight hunger and help bring hope to those who need it most.
Who are Our Community Partners?
Emergency feeding organizations such as food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters are among the community partners working with the Freestore Foodbank to help give hope to those who need it most.
How it Works
Supporting our partners and collaborating to strengthen communities is part of the Freestore Foodbank’s commitment.
Training workshops at the Leadership Institute and Capacity Development Center are one way the Freestore Foodbank helps its partner agencies build capacity. The workshops cover an array of topics including: fundraising, finances, staff/volunteer management and more. We foster and support coalitions, and the sharing of resources and best practices across our partner network.
Ensuring that the integrity and safety of the food distribution network is preserved is a top priority as the Freestore Foodbank works with partner agencies
Connecting Our Neighbors to Nutritious Food
A community farm initiative called The Giving Fields is a collaborative effort of the Freestore Foodbank and some of its community partner agencies to provide fresh fruits and vegetables to our friends and neighbors who need our help. Fresh produce grown at the community farm goes directly to some of the Freestore Foodbank’s community partner agencies in Northern Kentucky.
The annual Hunger Walk and 5K Run gives our community partners the opportunity to raise money to supplement its food operations. Since its inception in 2004, the Hunger Walk and 5K Run has raised nearly $1 million for community partner agencies serving 20 counties in Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana.
